With valuable investments such as our home and car(s) it’s logical to take habitual steps to protect them from being compromised. We use locks, security systems and sometimes more. Here at CyberDefender we ask, why isn’t the same logic applied to our computers?
If you are one of the millions on the net and can be found tethered to your computer throughout the day saving files, music, videos, allowing others to access it or sharing files, it would be astute to secure the data collected. We understand the demands in one’s daily life are more important than computer security, but we need to change the perception of how invaluable we believe the information to be and secure them. Preparation is key and no one wants to deal with resuscitating an ailing computer. Our advice is simple; protect your technology like you would with your larger investments. Follow our advice and save yourself time and a major headache.
Don’t drive through questionable neighborhoods (sites)
You don’t drive your car through bad neighborhoods because you are more prone to some sort of crime, the same rational should be applied when browsing the net. Browse with caution, trust your instincts, if a site looks fishy it most likely is. Remember the internet makes it possible for a virus to spread around the globe and onto computers within a matter of minutes.
Keep your doors (Firewall) locked
It’s not enough to have locks you need to be active and only let the right sites/programs in.
Firewall : A Firewall is a supplementary software to help protect your computer from hackers. At most time computers are readily equipped with a firewall or a consumer can purchase it separately. Remember to keep your firewall on, doing so keeps predators from stealing passwords or other personal information.
Install antivirus software and have continuous coverage
Antivirus software is one of the most single most important software on your system. Antivirus software prevents others from installing programs onto your computer. If the software detects malicious code such as, a virus or a worm, the software disarms it and removes it. Viruses can be placed and active on a user’s computer without the computer user’s knowledge. After installing antivirus software be sure to continuously renew the software to have continuous coverage!

Tune up!
Operating systems are occasionally updated to stay in tune with new tech requirements and to fix bugs and glitches in the system. Be sure to check to see if your computer has new updates to ensure you computer has the most recent protection.
Be cautious of what you download
By sloppily downloading attachments from sites and e-mails you can inherit a virus that can ultimately destroy your computer. Never open any e-mails from someone you don’t recognize.
Turn off your computer
One of the simplest and overlooked ways to protect your computer is by disconnecting your computer when you are not using it. Your computer is most vulnerable when it is connected; by turning it off scoundrels can’t connect to your device thus cause harm.
Disasters happen, have insurance
Human accidents and manufactured disasters can occur on your computer at any give time. Whether you’ve acquired a virus or lose your technology it is in your best interest to back up all the data in an external hard drive. The benefits from doing so are endless.
